Runebound Rattery is situated in Claremont, South Africa and is a hobby breeder of pedigreed rats from imported lines. I specialise in Dumbo eared rats in the Sable Siamese, Fawn and Blue varieties with blazes, but may have other varieties on occasion.

Rats make excellent pets...

They are often likened to very small dogs, they are affectionate, intelligent and clean pets.  Rats are the perfect pet for people who do not have the space for a dog, or who like the idea of a small pet but have found other small animals such as hamsters, mice and guinea pigs to be not quite as interactive as they would like.  

Rats also make great pets for younger members of the family as they love interacting with people and do not bite without very good cause.
